MEINIR HOWELLS

Meinir has over 16 years experience in the industry, and has enjoyed several roles from presenting, producing, directing to researching. Her infectious smile, and passion for sharing great stories, has facilitated a presenting career for over a decade, and has appeared on Network, BBC, Channel 4, and S4C.

Most recently she was part of the presenting team for the BBC’s Coast to Coast Food Festival, and BBC Wales Food fest series. Meinir is part of the presenting team on one of the leading agriculture programmes in the United Kingdom, Ffermio. She has Presented and Directed numerous productions, both live and recorded, from the BBC  and S4C coverage at the Royal Welsh show, various specials from different events across the UK, to some radio programmes. She has been part of the presenting team on the Live coverage from the Royal welsh show since 2012, and can be seen in her glory in the middle of the sheep and people, at the event.

One of the Highlights for Meinir was a special hour long live programme of Ffermio, from her sheep shed in Llandysul, which was one of the quickest hour she has experienced, with new life and drama all around. Following the success of the Live programme, Meinir and her family have done 2 series from the farm on S4C, which was a series that was enjoyed by all generations from young children to the elderely.

Over the years, she has been honoured to win some awards for her work, from the United counties Agricultural and Hunters Society Award  for her services to Agriculture, to the FUW Bob Davies memorial award in 2014 for her work to increase the public profile of welsh farming. She has also been part of the team who have won several awards at Bafta Cymru for their work on the live programmes from the Royal Welsh Show.

Meinir has an abundance of energy, she manages to put her contributers at ease, and is both versatile and adaptable to ensure the best possible content.

As well as her Tv work, Meinir thrives at being on the farm. Farming is what she does every spare minute she has! Gary her husband, and Meinir farm together at Shadog in Pentrecwrt, Llandysul, and since they got married they have  thrown themselves whole heartedly into developing and improving the livestock and farm, with the help of their two young children Sioned and Dafydd. She is totally hands on, and can be seen shearing sheep, pulling lambs, and driving tractors. She never shy’s away from work, and is a bit of a perfectionist.

She was also an active member of Llanfynydd Young Farmers in Carmarthenshire, being a past Lady Ambassador, Member of the year and County Chairman. She is forever grateful for all the experiences and opportunities that was given to her during her time as a member, from cooking  to singing and travelling. Since going over the age limit to compete, she loves to  help train youngsters for various competitions, from public speaking to stock judging.
