VICKI BLIGHT

Vicki presents every weekday 10am-2pm on Virgin Radio Anthems UK, as well as cover shows for Virgin Radio UK – the home of Chris Evans at Breakfast and Graham Norton at the Weekends. She is part of the Virgin Radio Pride presenting team; this year recording ‘Quite A Queer Conversation’ with actress Rachel Shelley (The L Word) and presented the Breakfast show for Pride Vibes Radio in Ireland, for it’s 8 week run this summer for Wireless Group.

She also presents the Weekend Early Breakfast on BBC Radio Wales, as well as being a regular part of the Football Phone in ‘Call Rob Phillips’. She is also one of the contributor presenters for BBC One Wales’ Wales Live TV programme. Having recently filmed pieces on ‘Type 1 Diabetes & Mental Health’ and ‘Plastic Pollution vs Climate Change’.

Vicki was one of the key presenters across Absolute Radio‘s network of stations for 6 years, winning a Sony Radio Academy Award whilst she was there. Throughout her career, she has broadcast on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music, HeartXFM, Galaxy, 106 Century FM and Red Dragon FM. She also presents in-flight radio shows for Qatar Airways and Oman Air.

It was at Cardiff University that Vicki got involved in student radio whilst studying Biochemistry and Medical Molecular Biology. She went on to win ‘Best Female Presenter’ at the Student Radio Awards in 2002.

Vicki was the presenter and co-producer of Richard Parks: Antartica podcast series and also co-presents the Inside The Petri Dish science podcast.

Being an accomplished compere, Vicki has hosted many live events including The Diana Awards, BBC HorizonsChampions League Final, 6 NationsHard Rock Calling SessionsHard Rock Rising – Global Battle of the Bands, Let’s Rock 80s music festivals, Pinktober at the O2 and the Cardiff University Media Awards.

She’s also a very versatile and successful award winning voiceover artist with large campaign credits for brands including Schwarzkopf, Kingsmill, Metro BankiTunesDisney and Spotify. She is one of the continuity voices of BBC One WalesBBC Two Wales and SyFy, and previously voiced Sky Movies Disney, Channel 5 and Challenge TV.

Narration credits include Secrets of the Garden, a six part nature documentary, and Channel 4’s Plastic and Proud, which won her ‘Best Narration’ at the 2018 One Voice Awards.

Currently involved with the Cervical Cancer Charity Jo’s Trust, Vicki completed the 100km Ride The Night cycling event in London to raise awareness and money for the charity. She wrote an awareness piece for the Huffington Post in the early part of 2014, having herself, undergone treatment for abnormal cells.

She is also involved with Diabetes UK Cymru, talking openly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic about her diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes in early 2019.

Vicki was named in the Western Mail’s Pinc List 2021 as one of the most influential LGBTQ+ individuals in Wales and lives in Abergavenny with her wife Rachael and their children. Vicki’s passions include Skiing, Cycling, Tae Kwon Do and cocktails!
