Dyfan Roberts

Biography

Dyfan Roberts is a North Walian actor, with a professional career spanning over 50 years. From his training with Cwmni Theatr Cymru national touring company in 1970, his acting work has included stage, television, film, radio and voice-work, in both Welsh and English.

 

His career highlights include S4C’s hit DAL Y MELLT (the first Welsh language drama to be aired on Netflix), Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru’s Y TAD ( LE PERE), National Theatre Wales’s epic TIDE WHISPERER, Bafta Cymru nominated film UN NOS OLA LEUAD ( ONE FULL MOON),  BBC Wales’s TV drama award-winning series WILIAM JONES, Theatr Bara Caws’s PUM CYNNIG I GYMRO ( with a best actor nomination at the Welsh Theatre Awards), and HTV’s comedy special CARYL A DYFAN AR Y BOCS, winning a Bafta Cymru Award.

 

He was one of the founding members of Theatr Bara Caws community company in the 1970’s, touring in 15 of their shows. The company is now approaching its fiftieth year. Also had leading roles in Welsh productions of Ibsen’s DOLL’S HOUSE, Brecht’s THE CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE, Moliere’s MALADE IMAGINAIRE, Ionesco’s L’IMPROMPTU DE L’ALMA and Miller’s CRUCIBLE. Wrote and appeared in two one-man shows- VAL, and MOR TAWEL.

 

BBC and S4C  credits include long-running series POBOL Y CWM,  MINAFON and TIPYN O STAD, historical classics TREFLAN and Y STAFELL DDIRGEL, and the satirical sketch series Y CLECIWR . Single TV dramas  include MARATHON ( the first full length drama to be shown n S4C), YMADAWIAD ARTHUR ( directed by Marc Evans), and THE CORMORANT (with Ralph Fiennes).

 

His long list of radio credits include a BBC Radio Cymru the weekly news sketch show PUPUR A HALEN.  Voice -over credits include SUPERTED, TECWYN Y TRACTOR, CAWL POTSH, CHATEAVALLON, Y DYWYSOGES FACH,  and as Papa Smurf in the latest SMURF adventures.
