Cecilia Nilsson

Biography
Cecilia was born in Sweden and trained at the Stockholm Academy of Drama. She is an award-winning actress having garnered Best Supporting Actress for feature film SIMON AND THE OAKS (dir: Lisa Ohlin) at the Swedish Gulbagge Awards – the equivalent of our BAFTAS.

Cecilia learnt English at a young age and speaks it fluently with no accent at all and has worked in English with international directors including Robert Wilson, Mick Gordon and David Ultz.

In 2013, she made a successful London debut in Kroetz’s play without words REQUEST PROGRAMME (Women in Arts Festival) after sell-out success in the 2011 + 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival seasons.

English audiences have also seen Cecilia on tv in Swedish WALLANDER episodes and more recently in a returning role in MODUS (shown on BBC4). She continues ongoing in popular Swedish series SPRINGFLODDEN (SVT) and by contrast much enjoyed satirising all things Scandinavian in BBC radio comedy series THE COLD SWEDISH WINTER and in a very funny Israeli commercial for IKEA.

Most recently Cecilia has enjoyed outstanding reviews for two top Stockholm productions as lead in both THE LOVE WAR OF THE CENTURY (Kulturhuset Stadsteatern) and as ‘Gertrude’ in a ground-breaking re-working of HAMLET at Teater Galeasen in association with the Swedish National Theatre, Dramaten.
