Carwyn Blayney

Carwyn trained in theatre and media at Aberystwyth University and graduated with an MA in 2016. He is currently on the National Film and Television School’s Comedy Writing course, in partnership with BBC Comedy (Part time).

His first professional directing role was Cwmni Theatr Arad Goch’s Tempted – produced in partnership with Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner – discussing the sexual exploitation of young people. The production was nominated for numerous Arts & Business Cymru awards in 2019 and won two, including the evening’s main arts award.

In January 2020, Carwyn spent a week in Austria training in biomechanics and physical theatre with NIPAI (New International Performing Arts Institute). He is currently working with Syrian Graphic Novelist Hamid Sulaiman and Cwmni Theatr Arad Goch to adapt Tempted into a graphic novel.

Outside of acting and directing, Carwyn writes and performs comedy. In 2019, Carwyn was the overall winner of NFYFC’s After Dinner Speaking competition over England and Wales.
