Alison Skilbeck

Biography
Alison got the acting bug at Oxford University while studying Spanish and French and started out with five years at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough directed by Alan Ayckbourn in premieres of six of his plays, and in many others from Chekhov, to Miller, to Pinter.
Almost her first radio job. was in THE ARCHERS (BBC R4), when she took over as ‘Polly Perks’ (until the character drove into a milk lorry to an early demise) whilst in the West End she decorously dis-robed in Nell Dunn’s STEAMING and in the musical JUDY played the wicked columnist ‘Hedda Hopper.
Alison’s tv appearances have included Alan Plater’s BEIDERBECKE AFFAIR, running parts in HEAD OVER HEELS and SOLDIER SOLDIER and MISS MARPLE – NEMESIS with Joan Hickson.
Alison started writing some years ago and now has two one-woman shows: ARE THERE MORE OF YOU (5* at Edinburgh) and MRS ROOSEVELT FLIES TO LONDON deploying for the character of Eleanor Roosevelt an immaculate ‘East Coast’ American accent that had her cast in movie FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS and most recently Will Ferrell spoof HOLMES AND WATSON.

You can also see Alison in Caitlin Shannon’s award-winning YouTube comedy drama WIMPOLE STREET as a rather desperate Victorian matron for whom doilies are more important than death!
